SMSNA-SSMR Traveling Fellowship Program
The Society for the Study of Male Reproduction (SSMR) and the Society for Sexual Medicine of North America (SMSNA) are proud to announce the Annual Traveling Fellowship Program; 2016 is the tenth combined award for the two societies. The SSMR and SMSNA, AUA-affiliated subspecialty societies, have a mission to promote the advancement of the science and treatment of male reproduction and sexual disorders; this is accomplished through education of practitioners, education of the lay public, and informational exchange of research and new advances. Meetings such as the AUA annual meeting and the subspecialty symposia organized by both our groups help achieve these goals. The SSMR and SMSNA are committed to cultivating interest in infertility and sexual medicine treatment careers in trainees, specifically through participation in these meetings. Our goal is to present residents in training with a more intensive exposure to male fertility medicine and sexual medicine. Fellows will attend AUA post-graduate courses in male infertility, erectile dysfunction and the infertility podium and poster sessions; there is also a symposium with fellowship directors and faculty members on how to prepare for a future successful career as an andrology specialist. The program will allow significant contact between fellows and leaders in the field.
The SMSNA Foundation proudly announces "The SMSNA Foundation Scholars in Sexuality Research Grants Program". This unique program offers young investigators who are interested in sexuality research the opportunity to obtain funding to support their research while engaged in qualifying research in sexuality.
It is the purpose of the Foundation to increase public awareness of healthy sexuality and sexual problems, to foster the finest care for individuals suffering from sexual debility, and to encourage scholarship and research in human sexuality. It is our hope that this program will encourage young people to become interested in sexuality research and make it a focal point of their careers.
Funding is available for graduate or medical students, residents in graduate medical education training programs, and post-doctoral/post-residency fellows. Because sexual medicine is a multi-disciplinary field and sex impacts almost every aspect of human endeavor in some way, we encourage applications from aspiring researchers representing diverse backgrounds including but not limited to urology, psychology, psychiatry, gynecology, internal medicine, geriatrics, public health, physiology, genetics, molecular biology, social work, and law.
The size of awards will be commensurate with the experience of the scholar, the proposed duration of funding, and the scope and quality of the proposed research project.
