Fellowship Overview
This is a one-year clinical and research fellowship in Sexual, Reproductive Medicine, Urinary Incontinence and Prosthetic surgery. Specifically, the fellowship will provide expert and dedicated training in the diagnosis and management of male sexual dysfunction, male urinary incontinence and prosthetic urology utilizing the most modern diagnostic tests and surgical techniques.
Fellowship covers in-depth prosthetic surgery as well as surgical techniques for the placement of Penile Prosthesis; Treatment of Peyronie’s Disease; and surgery for complex male incontinence patients utilizing male slings. In addition, the Fellow will conduct Clinical and Basic Science Research, which advances the sciences of sexual dysfunction and prosthetic Urology. Focus on the non-surgical aspect of Erectile Dysfunction, the mental and overall health status on partners and families.
Objectives/Goals
- To be proficient in all types of penile prosthesis surgery, male slings, and artificial urinary
sphincters - A profound understanding of the impact of erectile dysfunction and the quality of life for patients
and their spouse - Diagnosis and management of male sexual dysfunction, male urinary incontinence and prosthetic
Urology utilizing the most modern diagnostic tests and surgical techniques - In-depth prosthetic surgery as well as surgical techniques for the placement of Penile Prosthesis;
Treatment of Peyronie’s Disease; and surgery for complex male incontinence patients utilizing
male slings - Clinical and Basic Science Research, which advances the sciences of sexual dysfunction and
prosthetic Urology.
Research Focus
Clinical and basic science research will involve opportunities to perform both prospective and
retrospective research in areas of:
- Erectile dysfunction
- Male incontinence
- Quality of life
- Minimizing the occurrence of infections associated with implantation of penile prosthesis quality of
life before and after implantation of penile prosthetic device(s)
The fellow will have one day of protected research time
