What inspired you to work in sexual medicine?
As a med student on urology rotation, I spent a lot of time counseling a patient on ED causes and treatments. He was reticent initially, but by showing him that I cared enough to genuinely help him, his whole demeanor changed. It felt like making patients comfortable was my superpower! And then I went to a talk by Dr Irwin Goldstein which blew my mind as I had never learned anything in training about female sexual dysfunction. I immediately knew that this was my calling!
What is the most rewarding aspect of your career?
I love seeing patients get out of pain and attain their quality-of-life goals! So many sex med patients suffer in silence or go without help for years, and the visit when they come back and are pain free for the first time is priceless.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I have a degree in Architecture! I was also a flying trapeze instructor in New York City. I feel like I’ve had every job under the sun from landscaping to graphic design.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
If you never ask, you will never get what you desire.
What would your ideal vacation be?
I love to explore foreign places, cultures, foods, and languages. My next travel targets are Japan, Korea, Brazil, and Argentina.
